Parenting

Child Psychiatrist Rudolf Dreikurs in this passage from his book 'Children: The Challenge' explains how the relationship between parents will influence the type of relationships our children form within the family system.

"The relationship between the parents sets the pattern for all the relationships within the family. If the parents are warm, friendly and co-operative, the same relationship may possibly develop between children and parents and between children themselves. Co-operation can become a family standard. If the parents are hostile and compete with each other for dominance, the same pattern usually develops among the children"

from the book 'Children: The Challenge' by Rudolf Dreikurs & Vicki Soltz

If you are thinking that your relationship with your partner is having a negative effect on your children, couples therapy may be the help you need.
