Brief History
I have previously worked with children, parents, and families in allied health clinics before starting my own private practice with my husband. Before working as a psychologist I worked as a middle school teacher, teaching aide for special education, and a sound recordist and editor for film and television.
My learning journey includes completed Bachleor of Social Science (Psychology) at Bond University, Postgraudate Diploma of Psychology at Monash University, , Master of Education from Hong Kong Baptist University, and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Queensland University of Technology.
Why am I a psychologist?
"Growing up I longed to be unconventional. I wanted to be an outlier (Yes, a psychology term :)) and make something of myself. I searched for the space that would allow me to grow roots but something inside had always propelled me to look for the better things before roots can fully develop. One afternoon I walked by Bond University and wondered what might happen if I slowed down to experience the world and people in it (Because when you are constantly running you mostly discover tiredness and not much else). I stopped running. I enjoyed studying everything about psychology and learned to appreciate history and those who helped create the stories, even when they had gotten things wrong. But I did not become a psychologist after graduation because I did not think I could. I got scared and ran some more. Without me knowing, I went on to use psychology in teaching, and enjoyed connecting with those who invited me into their developmental journey. Back to where I left off, I continue to grow my community spirit through contributing in psychology.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”
